The Culture of Stupidity

When you hear your own doctoral supervisor--and now your boss--preach about the power of the cross of Christ against today's culture of foolishness, it is indescribably touching. Yesterday (Apr 2, 2024), Dr. Stanley E. Porter spoke from 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 at McMaster Divinity College's last chapel service of the Winter term. His sermon really got … Continue reading The Culture of Stupidity

The One True Messiah: Jesus

Allow me to ask you two seemingly unrelated questions: Have you ever seen the face of a “messiah”?; have you ever seen something that combines all three, i.e., Islam, Hinduism, and Christianity? Welcome | ようこそ

The gospel (福音, εὐαγγέλιον) is the good news for us fallen humanity (both Jews and non-Jews) that Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, died in our place for our sins and was raised again, conquering the power of sin and death, so that whoever believes in him will be freely given forgiveness of sins and a right standing with God for them to have eternal life and everlasting joy. Therefore, we are justified (made right with God) by grace alone through faith alone in the finished work of Christ alone.

"We preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." (1 Corinthians 1:23-25)
